General Information

Our mission is to nurture the growth of children and their families by providing a Christian environment that will enrich them spiritually, intellectually, physically, socially and emotionally. Our program is a self-supporting outreach ministry to members of Bethel Presbyterian Church and the surrounding community.

Our hours of operation are 9:15am to 1pm Monday through Thursday, with lunch as part of our daily schedule. Our school year runs from September to mid-May with our calendar following the Charlotte Mecklenburg School System (with a few exceptions).

Spiritual
Our students grow in the understanding of God as the Creator and Loving Father who has unconditional love for us. He gave us his son Jesus to be our Forever Friend and Savior. We are each a precious gift, uniquely created for a God designed purpose.

Social
Our students learn how to adjust to a group environment and to work and play with peers. We encourage the development of friendships and learning how to work out disagreements through problem solving and compromises.

Academic
Our curriculum supports the development of the whole child. Students are immersed in a literacy-rich learning environment, with age appropriate learning centers that enable discovery and broaden creativity. We help to develop a life-long love of learning and teach skills important for success in life and school.

Physical
Our students are provided opportunities to enhance and refine both gross and fine motor skills. We teach the importance of safety and maintaining good health habits.

Emotional
Our students are made to feel secure and safe in a school environment. We support the development of positive self-esteem and self-confidence. Children learn respect for others and understand that mistakes are an acceptable part of the learning process.

We are proud to offer opportunities that go above and beyond the average school day.

  • Chapel: Held once a week with our director of Christian Education. Our students learn about the Bible through interactive stories and songs.
  • Letterland: A story-based phonics curriculum used to teach foundational literacy skills.
  • Music Class: Offered twice a month in all classrooms by a Board Certified Music Therapist. Children engage in singing, moving and playing various instruments.
  • Gross Motor Time: Part of the daily schedule, rain or shine. We are fortunate to have a large playground, full indoor gym facility, and a gross motor room.
  • Screenings: Offered annually, with parental consent. Local professionals screen for speech, hearing, vision, and motor skills to ensure our students are meeting developmental milestones.
  • Story Time: We partner with the Cornelius Library who visits us monthly to provide group story time for all classes.
  • Soccer Shots: In the fall and spring, there is the opportunity for after school Soccer Shots on the church grounds.

We have dedicated, highly-trained staff and many teachers have been with the program for more than a decade. Each year every member of the staff is certified in CPR and First Aid treatment. Every teacher takes continuing education classes to ensure that your child receives the best, most current, preschool experience possible.
